Tribu Buntatatalan-on is the brainchild of Anthony Portugalete and with concurrence of Punong Barangay Joy Hosenilla and the honorable barangay council members of Buntatala, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The tribe is composed of 90 dancing performers, 40 drummers, and instrumentalists and countless community supporters. The character dancers are members of the deaf-mute community.
Tribu Buntatalan-on is the newest and youngest tribe in Dinagyang Festival landscape being fully recognize by the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. on December 2011, only a month prior to the Dinagyang Ati competition.
It is likewise the first truly community-based tribe because the barangay captain and officials, the Buntatala National High School and Buntatala Elementary School, and the constituents will join hands for the realization of this worthwhile objective. The demands for mounting the whole tribe and production are quite huge and will be confronted with countless tasks and obstacles that need immediate solutions.
Tribu Buntatalan-on is basically established as a commitment for Iloilo City’s tourism thrust and economic advancement, a religious undertaking and to enhance the youth’s social, personal, and inter-personal development.
The tribe is owned by Love Joy Hosenilla and Anthony Portugalete, tribe leader Christopher Crisostomo, dance master Ariel Catague, musical director Brian Yudelmo, and steering committee members Julieta Julitan, James Jales, Elena Poral, Mellisa Flores, Evelyn Talagon, and Rhea Saban.
