Grupo del Oeste is managed by the West Visayas State University and is competing at the Sinamba sa Paraw Regatta Music and Mardi Gras Competition for several years now. They won as Grand Champion in last 2011 competition, while placing 2nd Runner-Up in 2010. Several awards were also garnered by the group: Best in Music (2010), Best in Music, Best In Choreography, Best in Over all Performance (2011).
