Top neurologists to flock the City of Love for convention
The Stroke Society of the Philippines (SSP) will hold its 12th annual convention at the prestigious Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center at August 11 to 13, 2011.
The 12th SSP Convention with its theme, “Strengthening the Weaker Links in Philippine Stroke Care”, aims to improve stroke management at the community level by equipping barangay health workers, nurses, medical doctors, and paramedics with up to date information and evidence-based practices. Local neurologists and neurosurgeons of Iloilo City will provide lectures and seminars prevention and emergency treatment of stroke from early assessment up to transport to medical centers for advanced care.
On August 11, three lectures will be conducted for different set of audiences at the convention, namely:
1. Stroke for the Barangay Health Workers: A Primer on Stroke at DepED Division Social Hall at Mabini Street, Iloilo City
2. Stroke Course for Nurses/Paramedics at Kalantiao Hall, Sarabia Hotel
3. Stroke for MD: Maximizing Delivery of Stroke Care at Boracay Ballroom, Sarabia Hotel
Symposiums and lectures will still be conducted from August 12 to 13 with topics including enhanced assessment through diagnostic imaging, prevention of stroke through healthy lifestyle, rehabilitation of stroke patients, and nursing workshop on essential stroke care. A Heritage Tour of Iloilo City’s historical landmarks will be conducted on August 12, 4pm.
To cap the events, a SSP fun run will be held at the Plazuela De Iloilo at August 14, 5am to 7am.
