Enticing Guimaras Island

Enticing Guimaras Island:

The island that will definitely enchant you with its wonders

Guimaras beach

Guimaras is an exotic island blessed with picturesque beaches, falls, springs, and offshore islets which attract both foreign and local tourists.

The province is composed of five municipalities namely: Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, and San Lorenzo spread in an area of approximately 60,547 hectares. Each of the five municipalities has its own share of points of interest all guaranteed to make visitor’s trip memorable. The island of Guimaras was a former subprovince of Iloilo until 1992 when the Provincial Government of Guimaras was established.

Buenavista is a scenic and historic town. Its wharf was built by Lt. Douglas MacArthur in 1903 while on duty with US Corps of Engineer. Siete Picados’ Roca Encantada is one of the main features whose names are phonetically fashioned by the sea. The 45 hectare campus of the Good Shepherd’s Fold Academy and Daliran Cave never fail to attract visitors and nature lovers. Neptune Pittman’s Garden Resort and Spa is “home of exotic plants and flowers perfect place for special occasions and a resort that relaxes the mind, body and soul.”

manggahan festival guimarasJordan excites the senses with pleasurable promises of white sand beaches, marine gardens, coves and native cottages found at Natago Beach, Isla Naburot, and Baras Beach. Balaan Bukid is a pilgrimage cum trekking site. Calm and silent Trappist Monastery offers refuge to tired spirits for reflection and prayer. Every Lenten season, visitors flock the town for the “Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid” – a presentation of the Passion of Christ held every Good Friday. Another attraction, the “Manggahan Festival”, celebrates the world-class Guimaras Mangoes (this is held every April).

Nueva Valencia, like other municipalities in the province, delights an innumerable nature’s blessings. Not only are there a myriad for swimming, excursion, picnic, boating sites, the town also offers excellent accommodations. The water is calm all year round at Alubihod Bay. White beach, multi-colored corals and other marine life are found in Igang and Tando Bays, and Taklong Islets. The rare red shrimps of Tiniguiban Islet may make appearance during high tide during your visit. Cabalagnan Beaches and the offshore islands of Panoblon, Yato, and Guiwanon are excellent areas for spear fishing, scuba and snorkeling. Other attractions include beach fronts like John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation Ecological Park, and Raymen Beach Resort. Swim any hour of a fine day at La Puerta Al Paraizo, and Kenyama Beach Resort.

Sibunag and San Lorenzo are two new municipalities created in 1995 under RA 7896 and RA 7897 respectively. Sibunag boasts its 1,067 hectares Bamboo beach; the Costa Aguada Island Resort located at the crocodile shaped Inampulugan Island and Nagarao Island Resort, a small tropical island at the southern tip of Guimaras, which offers a Visayan setting.

San Lorenzo has its own unique attractions, products, cultural festivals, and pristine beaches.
